Teknothon is the annual techno-cultural festival organised by Department of Computer Science Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi from 26th-27th March 2018. It is one of the largest collegiate festival in the University calendar. A programme of intriguing events in a variety of venues at the heart of the campus. With over 20+ events spanning across dynamic venues over 2 full days, Teknothon is an exhilarating experience from beginning to end.
Mozilla India in collaboration with Mozilla Campus Club Jamia and Teknothon 2018 organised a two-day workshop during the fest. The agenda of the hands-on workshop was to introduce Mozilla, its program, projects and teach Web Extensions, GitHub and Linux to the participants. Besides, a Mozilla Booth was also installed during the fest to promote Campus Club in the university, aware people about Mozilla its projects and various paths to contribution.
On day-one, I started the session with introduction to Mozilla, its Campus Club in Jamia and mentioned different fields of contribution to the participants. The next session was about Linux held by Shivam Singhal and Rajiv Jha. Thereafter, Shivam Singhal held a session on Web Extensions. The participants in the hands-on session developed few extensions and showed interest to contribute further to the WebExtensions Developer Community.
On day-two Shivam Goyal and Shivam Singhal held a session on GitHub. The participants were made aware of the technology, where it is used and what more could be done with it. Participants who were trying GitHub for the first time, published their first project on the platform. The next session was about WebExtensions in which more advanced topics related to the subject were discussed. Swags, snacks and food was distributed among the participants.
The Mozilla Booth installed saw a huge rush of people interested to know about Mozilla and join the Campus Club in the University.
The workshop wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Team Teknothon who gave us the opportunity to be a part of the fest. We hope to collaborate for the next edition of Teknothon as well.
